This painting explores personal style and the careful curation of upward mobility; recasting uniforms that can both constrain and empower. The Adinkra symbol Nkyimnkyim, representing resilience and versatility, grounds the work in life’s twisting paths.
The LUDO GIRLS. series draws on the game of Ludo, played often in my grandmother’s house in Ghana. Each painting represents a corner of the board, distinct in colour yet united in theme; reflecting the diasporan experience as both individual journeys and shared threads of return.
