ST GEORGE.
£55.00
these words are a psalm;
there's no need to shout
I whisper them softly til
you fade away.
This painting critiques colonial history and reimagines national identity, countering the hyper-masculine energy of nationalism by honouring the saint-like valour, resilience, and forgiveness of Black women: traits often unrecognised yet vital to the nation’s success. The golden lions shift from symbols of Western domination to mere decoration. Lions are African creatures.
